Sofa or divan? Is there a difference?
Doesn’t matter. “Divan” is one of those words lost to the standardization of just about all our terms for everything Goodbye old words.
When I was a child I pondered “sofa” versus “divan.” Sofa sounded softer, but we usually said divan. (I’m cutting back on quotation marks.) I thought maybe it was because ou divan wasn’t really very soft.
