Santos A Hernandez,

age 73, passed away at his residence in Floydada, Texas, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife, children and family.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 2 p.m., April 23, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Floydada, Texas.

Interment followed at the Floydada Cemetery. Rosary was held at 6 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2024, at Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada, Texas. Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada, Texas.

Santos was born on December 28, 1950 in Navasota, Texas, to Apolonio and Dolores Hernandez.

He received his GED in 1967 while he was at Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos, Texas. He was drafted into the Army where he served two years as an infantryman.

He married Rosa Martinez of Floydada on October 2, 1972, in Floydada, Texas.

He worked as a roofer and as a carpenter for 35 years, where he displayed his passion for building and construction. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing dominoes, grilling and of course, was the biggest fan of Elvis Presley. He was a very humble and loving man. He was especially hospitable and giving.

Preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Hope Hernandez; his parents, Apolonio and Dolores Hernandez; his siblings, Tomas Hernandez, Norberto Hernandez, Lorenzo Hernandez, Sr., Norberta Flores and Angela Ramirez.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa; six children, daughter, Bertha A. Garcia and Felipe Arriaga of San Antonio, Texas; son, Eddie and Christy Hernandez of Big Lake, Texas; son, Adrian and Nora Hernandez of McAllen, Texas; daughter, Cynthia and Mike Ferrer of Plainview, Texas; son, Santos Junior and Veronica Hernandez of Floydada; daughter, Audrie and Demingo Hernandez, Jr., of Floydada; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters Luz Hernandez of Floydada and Rosa Medders of San Antonio, Texas.
